Samsung express support to WWF Earth Hour with its "Turn off your lights" campaign.

   On March 25, Samsung invites everyone to switch off their lights for just one hour and demonstrate their commitment to fighting climate change to support World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour. This year marks its 11th anniversary of the WWF campaign and its set to happen from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

  Samsung expresses their support in this advocacy with the “Turn Off Your Light” campaign launched last March 21. The campaign was organized to precede Earth Hour as Samsung elected to kick off its campaign on a weekday evening – reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions – and encouraging its employees to raise the issue of climate change and electricity inequality at home with their families.

  Samsung Philippines along with over 51 global sales branches participated in this campaign. It began at a sales branch in New Zealand, which was followed by branches in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and North America respectively. The amount of electric charge saved at these branches were delivered, along with social welfare donations, to the residents of Tiom, a rural village in Indonesia’s Papua province, that are suffering from electricity shortages.

  The amount of electric charge saved at these branches led to a reduction of approximately 8,000t of CO₂ emissions. Now, Tiom’s residents may feel safer at night, not having to worry about electricity shortages as Samsung also donated 1,400 LED lanterns.

DOTr together with Grab launch Road Safety Idea Hack event.

   The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and  partner agencies gather Filipino developers, IT and digital media talents, and road safety enthusiasts in a national Road Safety Idea Hack, which also featured workshops using traffic and road safety data sets at the Crowne Plaza on March 13 and 18.

The Road Safety Idea Hack welcomes people from diverse backgrounds, whether in app development, digital media, social science, data sciences, road safety advocacy and all who are excited and interested to learn more about open data and road safety.

Interested participants form teams to produce ideas, analyses, methodologies, digital media, advocacy campaigns and app prototypes to improve road safety in the Philippines, using:

• OpenTraffic data provided by Grab
• Road crash data aggregated by DOTr
• and other datasets, such as jeepney routes and school locations.

Who can join?

  Participants can do hacks in their own, instead of a 2-3 day hacking on one area, the participating teams are allowed to do their task on their own places, as long as they can submit the needed requirements on or before 6PM of March 17.

Entries will be judged according to expected impact, creativity, feasibility, and presentation.

  Road safety is a critical issue affecting the lives of millions of Filipinos, and through the Philippine Road Safety Action Plan (2011-2020), the DOTr is committed to reduce road crashes by 50%. While crashes can be mitigated with targeted policy and infrastructure interventions, these interventions need to be well-informed by evidence. Hence, the DOTr is enlisting the support of the public to use its new open data sets to find solutions that will help meet this target.

During the event, secretary they also signed the Memorandum of Agreement

  Alongside with the hacking event announcement, the DOTr also introduced a new platform called Data for Road Incident Visualization Evaluation and Reporting (DRIVER), a web-based and open-source national system for geo-spatially that record and analyze road crashes. DRIVER can be access at www.roadsafety.gov.ph and is currently populated with data from Metro Manila, Cebu, and Dipolog.

OPPO A39 get price drop, now available at P9,990.

  Get ready to take those brilliant snaps of your summer escapades. Mobile technology brand OPPO announced that one of its latest devices, the A39 will be available at P9,990 that is less P1,000 than its original price.

  The discounted A39 smartphone will be available in concept and dealer stores starting, March 4.

  The mobile phone’s 5-MP front camera has extra 1.4um pixels and ¼-inch sensor with higher light sensitivity and frame rate for reduced noise in photos and videos.

  Beautification feature Beautify 4.0 is also installed on the smartphone’s front camera to give each selfie an enhanced yet natural look—a feat it achieves through seven beautify levels, two skin modes, and upgraded photo-processing algorithms.

  The smartphone also captures 50-MP ultra-high definition images and crystal-clear nighttime and low-light shots, thanks to its 13-MP rear camera with an extra-large 1/3.06 inch sensor.

  The A39 runs on the Color0S 3.0 to make performance more seamless, save up on storage space, and use less battery power. A 3GB RAM and an Octa-core 64-bit processor also allow smoother multitasking and switching between apps, movies, and music.

  The phone’s unibody design uses 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 Screen with four precisely rounded corners and a thin lightweight frame that gives users a more comfortable grip.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus with Leica Optics 2.0

  After the successful hit of the Huawei’s P9 and P9 Plus. Huawei finally reviled the next big in Mobile photography as they unveiled the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus at MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.

   Huawei P10 and P10 Plus is powered by Kirin 960 and  Mali G71 GPU same as the Huawei Mate 9.  The Huawei new devices has quite almost same specs with each other. The only difference of both deivices is the P10 has a 5.1-inch Full HD display while the P10 Plus has a 5.5-inch in 2K Resolution display, other that the all specs are equally the same.

   The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus is available in color Rose Gold, Graphite Black, Dazzling Gold, Mystic Silver, Dazzling Blue, Greenery. Huawei P10 has a global price of 649 euro while the Huawei P10 Plus is 700 euro. Both device is expected to be available in March Globally.
